Waterproof
Benefit: one jacket that covers both the wet and the dry season. Ride to work in the sun with the membrane out, clip it back in for the afternoon downpour, and you never buy a second jacket.

Look elsewhere if: you mostly ride in the sun, where the Spyke Sahara Vented opens up more airflow. If you want a CE Level 2 back protector included rather than bought separately, the Hevik Scorpius. For tighter waterproofing on multi-day wet trips, the RS Taichi RSJ729 Drymaster Kompass, which also comes in women's sizes.
Straight talk: sizes 46, 48 and 50 cover most Vietnamese women, but anyone over 1.76m tall or above a 102cm chest will find the stocked sizes tight, and should ask the shop to order a larger one rather than forcing it.
Design
Benefit: there are cinch points at the waist, the cuffs and the collar, so a smaller frame can still pull the jacket in close, instead of having wind get underneath and balloon it like a parachute at speed.

These are BODY measurements of the rider, not garment measurements, taken from Spyke's women's size chart. BigBike currently stocks only 46, 48 and 50, which correspond to XS, S and M; the maker does offer larger sizes, so ask the shop to order one in if you need it. Measure properly: chest at the fullest point, waist at the narrowest, over light clothing rather than over a jacket. If your measurement lands between two sizes, take the larger one, since the jacket still has to hold the thermal liner inside.
