Benefit: most waist bags get their contents wet from the inside, not from the sky. You fold a still-damp rain shell in, or drop in a bottle beaded with condensation, and the wallet next to it takes the damage.

Evidence: the maker states the RWB05 has separate dry and wet compartments. It is the only model in our waist-bag group built this way; the rest put everything in one space and leave the sorting to you.

Worth knowing: splitting the compartments splits the space, it does not seal it. Water pooling in the wet side can still creep along the stitching, so wring out a soaked cloth before it goes in.

Benefit: in an open compartment, vehicle papers and a licence always slide to the bottom and end up under everything else. When you need them at a checkpoint you have to fish each item out.

Evidence: the maker lists an inner pocket alongside the two main compartments. Documents stand upright in it, so your hand lands on them straight away instead of digging.

Using it properly: keep the inner pocket for flat, thin things, papers, a licence, a bank card. Force a fat wallet or a phone in there and it bulges, eating into the dry compartment.

Benefit: a zip is the first place rain finds on a fabric bag, because a row of teeth always leaves a gap. A rolled top has no teeth at all.

Evidence: the maker specifies a roll-top opening on the main compartment. You fold the rim down and roll it, pressing two layers of fabric into one continuous barrier along the opening.

Said plainly: this is a polyester bag, not a tarpaulin one, so the rolled top helps against a downpour and wheel spray rather than turning the whole bag into a sealed box. Through a long steady rain, still keep documents inside a zip pouch.

Benefit: this is the only camouflage-patterned model in the group, in black and grey tones. Touring riders like it because red dust or a splash of mud does not show the way it would on plain black.

Evidence: the maker states polyester woven in a camouflage pattern, with reflective inserts set into the body. After dark, headlights behind you catch those inserts at hip height.

The limitation stated plainly: dark camouflage does not stand out in daylight, which is what the pattern is for. The reflective area is small too, so treat it as support. Your jacket and helmet still decide how early you are seen.
